Update: South Pasadena Firefighters Fire Help Knock Down Blaze in Alhambra House

The South Pasadena Fire Department reports no injuries from the blaze.

Six firefighters from the South Pasadena Fire Department assisted 30 to 35 other firefighters from the fire departments of Alhambra, Pasadena and the City of San Gabriel Thursday as they extinguished a fire in a house on the 900 block of Electric Avenue in Alhambra, according to SPFD Capt. Paul Riddle.

Initial reports by City News Service had indicated that the fire erupted in a house on Huntington Drive near Wayne Avenue.

Nobody was injured in the incident, which occurred on the border of South Pasadena, Riddle told South Pasadena Patch. The fire began in a backhouse that was adjoined to a garage, and flames spread to a second garage that was detached from the house in an adjoining property, Riddle said.

Both the garages were gutted in the blaze, the captain said, adding that firefighters took about an hour to knock down the fire.

The first call about the fire came in just before 11 a.m., Riddle said. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
