No occupants were injured. No surrounding homes were damaged.

Fire Chief Jerry Wallace says having neighboring agencies aid South Pas fires is typical.

"When we have a structure fire, we have a standard response, which is a ladder truck and three engines," he explained. "We only have one engine [in South Pasadena], so we always have two other cities aiding."

The cause of the fire is still under investigation; Jenkins says it had no connection to windstorm debris.

The injured firefighter has been released from the hospital but will be off work for the next four to six weeks.
