South Pasadena Police Department has arrested a Los Angeles man for an alleged
grand theft incident that occurred this past Wednesday.
According to a communiqué issued by the police department, the suspect, identified as Martin Badillo, 49, was seen by a witness on the 2000 block of Milan Avenue on Oct. 30 along with another suspect in the rear bed of vehicle carrying a lawnmower.
The witness saw Badillo and his accomplice allegedly cutting the lock that secured the lawnmower to the vehicle. The suspects then put the machine in a black-colored 2006 Toyota Tundra truck and drive away.
South Pas police officers stopped the suspects’ truck at Huntington Drive and Van Horne Avenue in Los Angeles, according to the communiqué. Badillo’s accomplice, identified as a white man aged 25 years to 30 years, instantly exited the truck and ran.
The man was not found and a search of the suspects’ vehicle revealed a laptop and cell phone, which were found to be stolen from Los Angeles, according to the communiqué. The lawnmower was recovered.
