LAPD Chase Ends in South Pas Thursday

A chase ensued after LAPD received a call that one suspect was seen pointing a semi-automatic pistol toward another vehicle.

A chase that started in Los Angeles ended in South Pasadena about 35 minutes later Thursday when the LAPD apprehended a pair of suspects—one of whom police say waved a gun at passers-by—emerging from a black Chevy Suburban near Grevelia Street and Fair Oaks Avenue, according to authorities.

Officers from Los Angeles Police Department's Wilshire Division received a call around 3 p.m. that one of the suspect was seen pointing a semi-automatic pistol toward other vehicles, said Officer Karen Rayner of LAPD Media Relations.

"He pointed it at the person who called it in and other people," she said.

Officers started to chase the SUV near Washington Boulevard and South Dunsmuir Avenue at 3:10 p.m. after the driver failed to pull over for police.

The slow-speed pursuit traveled into South Pasadena from Marengo Avenue, reported . LAPD then followed the suspects north on Garfield Avenue before the suspects eventually surrendered around 3:45 p.m.

South Pas Police assisted with traffic control only. No injuries were reported and no weapon was found, Rayner said.
