Meth Seized at I-15 Border Patrol Checkpoint

Nearly $42,000 worth of meth was found hidden Monday in a non-factory dashboard compartment, a U.S. Border Patrol spokesperson said about a stop at the I-15 checkpoint south of Temecula.

Border Patrol agents intercepted nearly $42,000 worth of methamphetamine during a stop Monday at the Interstate 15 checkpoint south of Temecula, it was announced today.

A 22-year-old male U.S. citizen driving a 2006 Nissan Altima was referred to secondary inspection after he and a passenger allegedly acted nervous when being questioned by agents, a Border Patrol spokesperson for the San Diego sector said.

A Border Patrol K-9 team performed a cursory inspection of the vehicle resulting in an alert, said Border Patrol Spokersperson Mary Beth Caston.

"Agents subsequently discovered a non-factory compartment in the dashboard containing methamphetamine," Caston said.

The narcotics weighed 2.09 pounds and had an estimated street value of $41,800, she said.

The driver, his passenger, and the narcotics were turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration, she said.

The car was seized by Border Patrol, she said.

True JJ. I know you applaud all the busts the police and border patrol get of drugs and illegals. They do the best job they can with the resources they have. Could you imagine if that was doubled what they could do? Would be AWESOME!

That is all I care about Doralee. Ounce, 20lbs, its all good, locks someone up, he has a record if he didnt have one before, one less person moving drugs around and into the hands of kids and adults.

Your ability to spell is a joke. And they do catch smugglers in De Luz all the time. I'm sure they'll thank you for the tip though...they really need and value your input....lol.

With the nickname "Temethula", this does not surprise me at all. I'm more surprised at the minimal amount being confiscated at that check point.
