Police Blotter: Assault, Robbery and DUIs

South Pasadena Police arrested five suspects during a sobriety checkpoint on Friday, Sept. 2, on Fair Oaks Avenue.

Stolen Vehicle

Between 9 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 2, and 1 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 3, on the 800 block of Forest Avenue, reported that a ’11 Mitsubish Lancer was stolen. The vehicle was recovered by the Ontario Police Department on Saturday, Sept. 3.

Between 10 a.m. and 11 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 5, on the 2000 block of Crestlake Avenue, South Pasadena Police reported that a ’06 Dodge Charter was stolen.

Auto Burglary

Between 12:01 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 31, on the 200 block of Monterey Road, South Pasadena Police reported that an unidentified suspect smashed the window of a ’98 Honda Civic and removed a stereo, amplifier and speakers

Between 9:30 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 5, and 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 6, at the intersection of Grand Avenue and Charter Oak Street, South Pasadena Police reported that an unidentified suspect removed change from a Honda Civic.

Commercial Burglary

At 8:29 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 4, at on Fair Oaks Avenue, South Pasadena Police reported that a suspect exited the store without paying for liquor. According to police reports, an employee chased after the suspect, who fell down and dropped a backpack. The suspect escaped the scene, and an employee recovered the suspect’s backpack, police said. The suspect is described as an 18- to 20-year-old Hispanic male, approximately 5 feet 7 inches and 145 pounds, wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, black pants and white cap.

Robbery

At 10 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 2, at on Fair Oaks Avenue, South Pasadena Police reported that a suspect placed liquor and vitamins inside a shoulder bag. According to police reports, the suspect paid for toilet paper but not the other items. As the suspect exited the store, two store employees pulled the shoulder bag from the suspect and recovered the loss, police said. South Pasadena Police arrested the suspect.

Assault

At 9:27 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 4, on the 1700 block of Fremont Avenue, South Pasadena Police report that a suspect got into a fight with his father.

Theft

Between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 31, at on Fremont Avenue, South Pasadena Police reported that an unidentified suspect stole a bicycle. 

At 5:48 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 31, at the Gold Line State Station on El Centro Street, South Pasadena Police reported that a suspect asked to use a victim’s cell phone. According to police reports, the suspect ran away with the victim’s cell phone. The suspect is described as a 16-year-old white female wearing a green top and jean shorts. A second suspect is described as a 16-year-old white female wearing an orange top. The third suspect is described as a 17-year-old black female wearing a black shirt and black shorts.

False Registration

At 4:41 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 6, at the intersection of Fremont Avenue and Maple Street, South Pasadena Police arrested a suspect found driving with false registration tabs.

Possession of Marijuana

At 11:38 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 2, on the 400 block of Fair Oaks Avenue, South Pasadena Police reported that a suspect drove through a sobriety checkpoint when police smelled marijuana coming from the vehicle. According to police reports, the suspect was in possession of marijuana. South Pasadena Police arrested the suspect.

D.U.I.

At 10:28 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 2, on the 400 block of Fair Oaks Avenue, South Pasadena Police reported that a suspect drove through a sobriety checkpoint and was found driving under the influence of alcohol. South Pasadena Police arrested the suspect.

At 10:39 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 2, on the 400 block of Fair Oaks Avenue, South Pasadena Police reported that a suspect drove through a sobriety checkpoint and was found driving under the influence of alcohol. South Pasadena Police arrested the suspect.

At 10:42 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 2, on the 400 block of Fair Oaks Avenue, South Pasadena Police reported that a suspect stopped before entering a sobriety checkpoint. South Pasadena Police located and arrested the suspect for driving under the influence of alcohol

At 1:15 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 3, on the 400 block of Fair Oaks Avenue, South Pasadena Police reported that a suspect drove through a sobriety checkpoint and was found driving under the influence of alcohol. South Pasadena Police arrested the suspect.

Fraud

At 1:35 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 5, at on Fremont Avenue, South Pasadena Police reported that an unidentified suspect left counterfeit cash on the table after eating a meal and left the restaurant.

Detective Arrest

At 8:40 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 2, on the 2000 block of Alameda in Los Angeles, South Pasadena Detective arrested a suspect from a lead for a commercial burglary that occurred over Fourth of July weekend.

Vandalism

Between 2:45 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 2 and 6 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 3, on the 600 block of Brent Avenue, South Pasadena Police reported that an unidentified suspect broke the window of a victim’s vehicle.

Between Sunday, Sept. 4 and 9:09 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 6, at a daycare center on the 600 block of Monterey Road, South Pasadena Police reported that an unidentified suspect entered the building through a second story door and discharged a fire extinguisher in the kitchen.
