Police Blotter: Attempted Robbery, Identity Theft and Burglary

South Pasadena Police arrested a suspect for attempted robbery at Bank of the West on Atlantic Boulevard.

Attempted Robbery

At 10:39 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 30, at  on Atlantic Boulevard, South Pasadena Police reported that a bank employee heard the sound of a gun being loaded and called the police. According to police reports, a suspect in a black hooded sweatshirt discovered he was being watched and left the scene. South Pasadena Police located and arrested the suspect.

Stolen Vehicle

Between 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 23 and 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 24, on the 300 block of Raymondale Drive, reported that a ’95 Honda Accord was stolen.

Auto Burglary

Between 6:30 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 26 and 9 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 27, on the 1600 block of Fremont Avenue, South Pasadena Police reported that an unidentified suspect removed a GPS, DVD player and power converter from a ’05 Toyota Sienna.

Residential Burglary

Between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 26, on the 200 block of Indiana Avenue, South Pasadena Police reported that an unidentified suspect entered a residence through an unlocked door and removed a laptop computer.

Between 1:04 and 1:55 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 29, on the 1600 block of Milan Avenue, South Pasadena Police reported that an unidentified suspect entered a residence through a second story window and removed two laptop computers and a TV.

Commercial Burglary

Between 9:21 and 9:41 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 27, at  on Meridian Avenue, South Pasadena Police reported that an unidentified suspect opened an unlocked storage shed and removed six shears and a digital camera.

At 1:40 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 28, at on Garfield Avenue, South Pasadena Police reported that a suspect exited the store without paying for groceries and toiletry items. South Pasadena Police arrested the suspect.

Child Annoyance

At 8:38 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 30, on the 900 block of Oliver Street, South Pasadena Police reported that a female victim was exiting her side gate when a suspect’s hand reached over the gate attempting to open the latch. According to police reports, the suspect failed to open the gate and left the premises. The victim described the suspect as a white male with blonde hair wearing a white t-shirt. Police report the victim later went on a walk with her dog and a heard voice say, “Get in the car.” It is unknown whether the suspect attempting to enter the gate is the same suspect speaking to the victim, police said. The vehicle is described as a white truck with camper shell.

Theft

Between 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 20 and 10 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 28, on the 900 block of Arroyo Drive, South Pasadena Police reported that an unidentified suspect removed license plates from a victim’s vehicle.

At 12:18 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 25, on the 100 block of Monterey Road, South Pasadena Police reported that two suspects were acting suspicious around a mailbox. According to police reports, the two suspects were found stealing mail from the mailbox. South Pasadena Police arrested the suspects. 

Between 9:30 and 10:15 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 26, at on Fair Oaks Avenue, South Pasadena Police reported that a victim placed a purse inside a shopping cart. According to police reports, a suspect took the wallet from the victim’s purse and used the victim’s credit card to make several unauthorized purchases.

At 3:26 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 30, at  on Mission Street, South Pasadena Police reported that a suspect gave the cashier a debt card to pay for gasoline. According to police reports, the suspect fueled his vehicle and drove away. Police report that the suspect’s debit card was invalid. The suspect is described as 35-year-old Hispanic male approximately 5’9” and 200 pounds. The suspect’s vehicle is described as a red Dodge Intrepid.

Identity Theft

At 8:50 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 26, on the 1600 block of Marengo Avenue, South Pasadena Police reported that a victim received a phone call from a suspect pretending to be the victim’s grandson. According to police reports, the suspect asked the victim to wire him money because he was arrested in Oregon. Police report that the victim complied and wired money to the suspect. The suspect later called again and asked the victim to wire additional money to Spain, police said. The victim complied with the suspect but contacted his grandson after and said he had not been arrested in Oregon, police said.

Nighttime Loitering

At 9 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 26, on the 1000 block of Fremont Avenue, South Pasadena Police reported that a suspect ran away from a group home and later returned. South Pasadena Police arrested the suspect.
