Police Blotter: Laundry Room Thefts Continue

South Pasadena Police have reported a series of apartment laundry machine burglaries.

The following arrest information was supplied by the . It does not indicate a conviction.

Commercial Burglary

Between 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 23 and 6:45 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 28, at a beauty boutique on Fremont Avenue, South Pasadena Police reported that an unidentified suspect entered the storefront by unknown means and removed scissors, jewelry, cash and clothes.

At 7:40 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 26, on the 600 block of Prospect Avenue, South Pasadena Police reported that a witness saw a suspect exit an apartment laundry room complex. According to reports, the witness saw that the apartment laundry machine coin boxes were damaged and chased after the suspect. The witness saw the suspect meet a second suspect in front of the complex and the two rode away on bicycles, police said. The first suspect is described as a 19- to 20-year-old black male, approximately 5'6" and 140 lbs with short hair, wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt, dark pants and a dark backpack with a white circle in the middle. The second suspect is described as a black male, approximately 5'6" and 130 lbs wearing dark clothes. Both suspects were riding mountain-type bicycles. 

Residential Burglary

Between 8:45 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 21 and 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 23, on the 600 block of Prospect Avenue, South Pasadena Police reported that an unidentified suspect attempted to pry open laundry coin boxes in an apartment building. 

Between 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 22 and 9 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 23, on the 600 block of Prospect Avenue, South Pasadena Police reported that an unidentified suspect entered an apartment laundry room, pried open laundry coin machines and took coins. 

Between 5:15 p.m. and 7:08 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 23, on the 1500 block of Via Del Rey, South Pasadena Police reported that an unidentified suspect smashed open the rear sliding glass door and removed gold coins, watches and cash from a residence. 

Suspicious Circumstances

At 3:30 p.m. on  Tuesday, Nov. 29, on the 1600 block of Rollin Street, South Pasadena Police reported that a suspect was seen sitting inside a vehicle near cradling a dark colored handgun in his lap. According to reports, a witness described the weapon as a small semi-auto pistol. When school officials were notified of the incident, the suspect's vehicle was gone, police said. The suspect is described as 35- to 45-year-old Hispanic male, with brown eyes, combed black hair and a light mustache. The suspect had a "pudgy" build and was wearing a grey t-shirt. The suspect's vehicle is described as a dark, possibly maroon convertible sedan with a small dent on the left rear side bumper.

Recovered Stolen Vehicle

At 8:32 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 26, on the 200 block of Berkshire Avenue, South Pasadena Police located a '92 Honda Accord stolen from LAPD Southwest Division. 

Auto Burglary

Between 5 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 25 and 9 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 26, on the 100 block of Mockingbird Lane, South Pasadena Police reported that an unidentified suspect entered a '93 Honda Accord by an unknown means. 

Assault

At 8:20 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 26, at the intersection of Oak Street and Marengo Avenue, South Pasadena Police reported that a victim was walking down the street listening to a MP3 player when three suspects started to follow the victim. According to reports, one suspect pushed the victim from behind. After the victim took a fighting stance, the two suspects walked away, police said. The three suspects are described as Hispanic males.

Under a Controlled Substance

At 7:25 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 28, on the 1400 block of Bank Street, South Pasadena Police reported that two suspects were stopped by an officer for acting suspiciously. According to reports, suspect one was found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia and under the influence of a controlled substance. Suspect two was found to have an outstanding warrant, police said. Police arrested the two suspects. 

Minor Possessing Tobacco 

At 10:43 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 23, at the intersection of Monterey Road and Mound Avenue, South Pasadena Police reported that a suspect  riding a bicycle was stopped for a traffic violation. According to reports, a second suspect was sitting on a nearby block wall and walked away from authorities. Both suspects were juveniles out after curfew hours, police said. Suspect one possessed tobacco paraphernalia and the suspect two possessed beer, police said. South Pasadena Police arrested the two suspects. 

At 10 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 28, at the intersection of Pine Street and Meridian Avenue, South Pasadena Police arrested a suspect found possessing tobacco paraphernalia.  

Violation of Parole 

At 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 23, on the 2000 block of Huntington Drive, South Pasadena Police arrested a suspect who is a parolee at large. 

Theft 

Between Friday, Nov. 18 and Tuesday, Nov. 29, at South Pasadena Middle School, South Pasadena Police reported that an unidentified suspect removed a bicycle from a bicycle cage. 

Between 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 23 and 9:40 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 24, on the 1100 block of Huntington Drive, South Pasadena Police reported that an unidentified suspect removed two tires from a victim's vehicle. 

Between 10 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 23 and 9:37 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 24, on the 1500 block of Camino Lindo, South Pasadena Police  reported that a unidentified suspect attempted to remove tires from a victim's vehicle. 

Between 5 p.m. and 5:24 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 26, on the 400 block of Harriman Avenue, South Pasadena Police reported that an unidentified suspect removed mail from a victim's mail box. 

D.U.I

At 2 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 24, on the 800 block of Fair Oaks Avenue, South Pasadena Police reported that a suspect stopped for a traffic violation was found to be driving under the influence of alcohol. South Pasadena Police arrested the suspect. 

At 2 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 27, at the intersection of Huntington Drive and Main Street, South Pasadena Police reported that a suspect stopped for a traffic violation was found driving under the influence of alcohol. According to reports, a second suspect, who is a passenger in the vehicle, refused to exit the vehicle. When the suspect exited the vehicle, he was found to be intoxicated and unable to care for himself. South Pasadena Police arrested the two suspects. 

At 11 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 28, at the intersection of Via Del Rey and Camino Verde, South Pasadena Police reported that a suspect involved in a traffic collision was found driving under the influence of alcohol. South Pasadena Police arrested the suspect.
