Police Blotter: Spike in Residential Burglaries

South Pasadena Police reported ten residential burglaries this week.

The following arrest information was supplied by the . It does not indicate a conviction.

Residential Burglary

Between Thursday, Sept. 22 and Wednesday, Oct. 19, on the 1800 block of Via Del Rey, South Pasadena Police reported that an unidentified suspect entered a residence by unknown means and removed cash and tax documents.

Between 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 8 and 12:30 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 23, on the 700 block of Orange Grove Avenue, South Pasadena Police reported that an unidentified suspect entered a residence by unknown means and removed cameras, watches and jewelry.

Between 10:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 19, on the 200 block of St. Albans Road, South Pasadena Police reported that an unidentified suspect removed the window screen and attempted to open the window to a residence.

At 11:35 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 19, on the 1900 block of La Fremontia Street, South Pasadena Police reported that an unidentified suspect pried opened a partially opened window and activated a motion sensor alarm inside a residence. According to reports, the suspect exited through the front door without taking any loss.

Between 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 19 and 3 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 20, on the 500 block of Orange Grove Avenue, South Pasadena Police reported that an unidentified suspect entered a residence by an unknown means and removed two mirrors.

Between 12:15 p.m. and 2:15 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 20, on the 1900 block of Oxley Street, South Pasadena Police reported that an unidentified suspect entered a residence through an opened window.

Between 12 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 21 and 12 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 23, on the 2000 block of Amherst Drive, South Pasadena Police reported that an unidentified suspect entered a residence by an unknown means and removed jewelry.

Between 9:45 a.m. and 6 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 21, on the 1400 block of Indiana Avenue, South Pasadena Police reported that an unidentified suspect entered a residence through an unlocked side door and removed jewelry.

Between 1 a.m. and 7 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 23, on the 1100 block of Glendon Way, South Pasadena Police reported that a victim was sleeping when an unidentified suspect used a patio chair to climb into a window. According to reports, the suspect forced open a window and removed an I-Pad from the residence.

At 11:54 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 24, on the 4900 block of Collis Avenue, South Pasadena Police reported that a victim heard a suspect knocking on the door but did not answer it. According to reports, the victim then saw the suspect attempting to pry open the rear sliding door of the residence. The suspect yelled and the victim fled, police said. The suspect is described as 20-year-old black male wearing dark clothing.

Recovered Stolen Vehicle

At 3:11 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 19, at the intersection of Grevelia Street and Prospect Avenue, South Pasadena Police recovered a stolen vehicle found parked on the street.

At 7:30 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 24 on the 1500 block of Diamond Avenue, South Pasadena Police recovered a ’00 Honda Civic that was stolen from Los Angeles.

Stolen Vehicle

Between 12:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 24, on the 1500 block of Diamond Avenue, South Pasadena Police reported that a ’94 Acura Integra was stolen.

Auto Burglary

At 4:38 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 19, on the 1700 block of Grevelia Street, South Pasadena Police reported that a witness saw a suspect attempting to break into a victim’s vehicle. South Pasadena Police located and arrested the suspect who is a parolee.

Between 11 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 20 and 9 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 21, on the 2000 block of Fletcher Avenue, South Pasadena Police reported that an unidentified suspect removed keys from a ’04 Honda Accord.

Between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 22, on the 400 block of Arroyo Drive, South Pasadena Police reported that an unidentified suspect removed cash from a ’98 Honda Civic.  

Between 9:30 p.m. and 9:49 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 23, on the 800 block of Hawthorne Street, South Pasadena Police reported that an unidentified suspect smashed the window of a ’03 GMC and removed a portable GPS.

Commercial Burglary

At 11:20 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 20, at , South Pasadena Police reported that a suspect hid items inside his pants and exited the store without paying. South Pasadena Police located and arrested the suspect.

Assault & Battery

At 10:26 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 21, at on Fair Oaks Avenue, South Pasadena Police reported that a suspect, who is a store customer, arrived at the shop to pick up a bicycle. According to reports, the victim, who is a store employee, was assisting another customer but agreed to help the suspect.

The suspect paid the bill but disagreed with the price and yelled profanity at the victim, police said. The suspect demanded a partial refund and the employee obliged, police said. According to reports, the suspect returned, demanded a receipt and pushed and hit the victim several times when he refused to print a receipt. South Pasadena Police arrested the suspect.

Trespassing

Between 5:30 p.m. and 6:48 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 21, at South Pasadena High School, South Pasadena Police reported that an unidentified suspect entered the Career Center through an unlocked door and ransacked the room.

Theft

Between Thursday, June 2 and Monday, Oct. 24, at on Mission Street, South Pasadena Police reported that an unidentified suspect wrote a fictitious check for merchandise.

Between Wednesday, Oct. 12 and Wednesday, Oct. 19, on the 1500 block of Laurel Street, South Pasadena Police reported that an unidentified suspect removed a parcel package from a victim’s front porch.

Between 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 18 and 8 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 19, on the 1500 block of Ramona Avenue, South Pasadena Police reported that an unidentified suspect entered a victim’s unlocked vehicle and removed DVDs, a GPS and a baseball cap.

Between 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 18 and 8 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 19, on the 1900 block of Oak Street, South Pasadena Police reported that an unidentified suspect entered a victim’s unlocked vehicle and removed 2 headrest DVD players.

Between 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 18 and 7:20 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 19, on the 1400 block of Stratford Avenue, South Pasadena Police reported that an unidentified suspect entered a victim’s unlocked vehicle and removed a camera.

Between 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 18 and 9:20 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 19, on the 1100 block of Huntington Drive, South Pasadena Police reported that an unidentified suspect entered a victim’s unlocked vehicle and removed a book.

On Wednesday, Oct. 19, at the 100 block of Monterey Road, South Pasadena Police reported that an unidentified suspect removed license plates from a victim’s vehicle.

Between 4:23 a.m. and 4:56 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 19, on the 1700 block of Gillette Crescent, South Pasadena Police reported that an unidentified suspect entered a victim’s unlocked vehicle.

At 1:27 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 22, on the 2000 block of Cambridge Place, South Pasadena Police reported that a suspect entered a victim’s unlocked vehicle. According to reports, the victim saw the suspect sitting inside the vehicle and yelled at him. The suspect exited the vehicle and walked away, police said. The suspect is described as a 20-year-old male wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and white pants.

Evading a Police Officer

At 10:24 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 21, at the intersection of Monterey Road and Arroyo Verde Road, South Pasadena Police reported that a suspect led officers on a pursuit on the southbound 110 freeway after failing to stop. According to reports, the suspect collided on the 5 freeway and fled on foot before being arrested. The suspect is a parolee with an arrest warrant, police said.

D.U.I.

At 2:41 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 16, at the intersection of Hill Drive and Collis Avenue, South Pasadena Police arrested a suspect who was found to be driving under the influence of alcohol.

At 3:47 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 23, on the 300 block of Orange Grove Avenue, South Pasadena Police arrested a suspect involved in a traffic collision with injuries. According to reports, the suspect was driving under the influence of alcohol.

Drunk in Public

At 3:39 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 20, on the 1600 block of Amberwood Drive, South Pasadena Police reported that a suspect pounded on a victim’s apartment door. According to reports, the suspect was intoxicated and unable to care for himself. South Pasadena Police arrested the suspect.

At 3:11 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 20, on the 800 block of Glendon Way, South Pasadena Police arrested a suspect found intoxicated and unable to care for himself.

Nighttime Loitering by a Minor

At 1:06 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 19, on the 1200 block of Meridian Avenue, South Pasadena Police reported that a juvenile suspect was found yelling in the street. South Pasadena arrested the suspect who admitted to breaking a nearby wooden fence.

Soliciting Lewd Conduct

At 10:30 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 23, at the on the 400 block of Fair Oaks Avenue, South Pasadena Police reported that victim was doing laundry when a suspect stared at the victim and rubbed his genital area. According to reports, the suspect exited the Laundromat when the victim called the police. The suspect is described a 50-year-old white male, approximately 6’, wearing a khaki coat and khaki pants.
