Police Seek Sexual Assault Suspect

A 35-year-old victim was riding the Gold Line from Pasadena around midnight when the suspect allegedly followed her off at the Mission Station stop.

Police are in search of a male suspect who allegedly groped a woman on Meridian Avenue after she exited the Metro Gold Line Thursday.

The 35-year-old victim was riding the train from Pasadena around midnight. After getting off at the Meridian Station stop, she heard a bicycle behind her. The suspect—who allegedly followed her off of the train—groped her as he rode past her on his bicycle. 

The suspect then pushed him away, and he rode northbound down El Centro.

Police have requested a video from the MTA and a composite is expected to be completed sometime tomorrow. 

The suspect is said to be a Hispanic male with black hair (short on the sides and combed on top) wearing a white tank top and black pants.

South Pasadena Detective Bill Earley says although sexual assault incidents near the Gold Line have occurred in the past, they are not common.

"There have been a few—but not a huge number—of assaults near the train from both victims and suspects getting off the train," said Detective Earley.
