Security Guard Fires Handgun During King Taco Robbery

Despite firing the shots, a security guard was unable to thwart a pair of alleged thieves at the King Taco stand in Cypress Park.

Gunfire failed to thwart a pair of suspected thieves who robbed the King Taco in Cypress Park on Thursday evening.

The robbery occurred around 11:30 p.m., when two men hit the King Taco at 1118 Cypress Ave. and fled with cash, said Sgt. Wayne
Guillary of the Los Angeles Police Department's Northeast Station.

A security guard fired two shots into the air as the robbers ran from the scene, Guillary said. He added that no one was hit by bullets and no one in the restaurant was injured during the robbery.
A description of the suspects was not available.

The security guard was not arrested for firing the weapon, according to police.

The security guard is not going to get hurt or killed especially when only making $12 an hour. I wonder if the suspects were from the area. Anyone that goes to King Taco knows they have security cameras and an armed security guard. Tighter gun control? The security guard had a gun and did not use it. Do you want to take away the security guard's gun?

Anyone who thinks "Gun Control" AKA The taking of a citizens Second Amendment Right is going to stop criminals from getting a gun. Is as big an idiot an just as dangerous as the IDIOT shooting "warning shots" in the air...

My money is it was the Hamburgler and an accomplice sent over from the McDonalds on Figueroa and Avenue 26. I am going to investigate the scene right now and see if there are any clues inside my french fry container. BRB.

I thought I read that the Robbers were armed with guns. Although it doesn't mention it, chances are that they were.

My understanding is not that gun control takes guns away the guns of people but that it looks to legislatively re-categorize what types of guns and ammunition should be legal. Also, it's probably important to mention that, while Americans often see the constitution as a set of canonized rules, these rules have been amended numerous times.
