Sheriff's Department, Police to Run Active Shooter Drill at Huntington Hospital

The drill will not interfere with hospital functions.

Sheriff's department personnel will join their police counterparts and hospital staff in an active shooter drill Friday at Huntington Memorial Hospital in Pasadena.

The drill is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. at the hospital at 100 W. California Blvd., said sheriff's Public Information Officer Nicole Nishida.

Participating will be personnel from the sheriff's Tactics and Survival Training Unit, the Pasadena police and fire departments and Huntington Memorial Hospital.

"This training will simulate a shooting at the hospital where police and fire personnel will respond and take simulated action," Nishida said.

"The training will incorporate simulated gunfire and explosions. There will also be simulated injuries and role players at the hospital."

The drill will not interfere with hospital functions, she said.
