Unidentified suspects are stealing mail from South Pasadena mailboxes - in some cases prying open the boxes, authorities said.
Between Oct. 26 and Nov. 2, the suspects opened mailboxes in the Monterey Hills area (1800 block of Hanscom, 1800 block of Peterson, 200 block of St. Albans and 1300 block of Indiana), according to a press release from South Pasadena Police.
And on Nov. 2, at about 9:30 PM, a resident spotted a man opening a mailbox in the 1700 block of Hill Drive. The witness watched the unidentified man get into a white pickup truck and drive away. A neighbor, who has a surveillance camera pointed toward the street, captured images of the suspect driving by.
The video appears to show the suspect reaching out the driver’s side door and opening a mailbox, police said. Another witness who saw the suspect vehicle provided a partial plate. You may view the vehicle in the document attached to this article.
The white, 1990’s, pick-up is possibly a Mazda, with rear cab sliding window and loud exhaust. The partial plate, which is possibly from the state of Oregon, reads “Q30...”
