South Pas Police to Start Patrolling on 2 Wheels

Have you noticed any officers pedaling about town?

Several South Pasadena Police officers and cadets are poised to spend a portion of their shifts on bicycles, Interim Chief Art Miller said.

"The result I am looking for is a closer connection to the community,'' he said, noting personnel began training for bike patrol at the Los Angeles Police Department Academy on April 23.

Once the officers have completed training, folks can expect to see a new presence of officers and cadets patrolling the streets. And though the deployment will not be everyday, Miller is hoping the new program will enhance the department's service to the residents of South Pas. As the bicycling patrols get underway, he will evaluate their effectiveness and make adjustments as necessary.
