Sergeant To Bike 300 Miles For Fallen Officer

Sgt. Tony Abdalla will participate in a three-day, 300-mile bike ride to honor police officers who have died in the line of duty, including fellow Officer Kevin Sandoval.

Sgt. Tony Abdalla will be cycling alongside hundreds of other law enforcement officers in the 2012 Police Unity Tour as a tribute to

“I’m truly honored and privileged to be able to participate in the 2012 Police Unity Tour in memory of Kevin and to honor his family,” said Sgt. Abdalla, who is an avid cyclist and 22-year veteran of the department.

“Kevin left us way too soon, and the Tour is an amazing event that keeps his candle burning bright.”

The three-day, 300-mile bike ride from Somerset, NJ to Washington, DC honors police officers who have died in the line of duty. It culminates with a candlelight vigil at the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial during National Police Week.

A three-year veteran of the department, Sandoval This was the second death on the South Pas Police Department since 1944.

Want to help? Each rider participating in the Unity Tour has a fundraising commitment of $1,800 with the donations going to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial and Museum.

Over 1,300 law enforcement officers biked and raised $1.5 million in donations in the 2011 event.
