The 3rd annual "Tip-A-Cop" Event held at Red Robin at Los Cerritos Center and Lakewood Center will be held from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 13. During these time periods, Los Angeles County Sheriff's deputies and department personnel will be volunteering their time as waiters to collect tips from guests to support Special Olympics -- an organization that celebrates the accomplishments of athletes with intellectual disabilities and special needs.
Last year, Cerritos deputies at Red Robin at Los Cerritos Center earned more than $5,000 for the Special Olympics' South East Los Angeles (SELA) chapter.
The national goal for this year's Red Robin “Tip-A-Cop” event is to raise more than $850,000 from all participating national programs to benefit Special Olympics athletes.
Area residents are encouraged to take part in one of the two local fundraising efforts:
- Red Robin at Los Cerritos Center, 360 Los Cerritos Mall -- Cerritos Sheriff's deputies and personnel will be serving lunch from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and dinner from 3:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.
- Red Robin at Lakewood Center, 112 Lakewood Center Mall -- Lakewood Sheriff's deputies and personnel will be serving lunch from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and dinner from 3:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.
