The Feds Want Your Drugs, And Soon

The South Pas Police Department will be accepting your prescription drugs for disposal from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 28.

Residents who want to get rid of their prescription drugs for safe disposal may turn them in at local law enforcement agencies throughout Los Angeles County.

The Drug Enforcement Administration has scheduled a National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., April 28.

The  will be accepting your prescription drugs for disposal during that time.

A similar operation last October garnered more than 377 pounds—equal to 188 tons—of unwanted or expired medications for disposal, Los Angeles County sheriff's officials said.

There are more than 5,327 collection sites throughout the country and in U.S. territories, officials said.

The combined total of all three Take-Back Days organized in the past 13 months by the DEA, and state, local, and tribal law-enforcement reached 995,185 pounds of prescription drugs, officials said.

This equals nearly 500 tons of medication removed from circulation, officials said.
