Tips to Avoid Bicycle Theft

South Pas Police say bicycle theft is on the rise.

In releasing its April crime report, South Pas Police report a continuous rise in bicycle theft. While some of the bicycles were locked, others were not.

Here are some tips to remember:

  • Be cautious of cheap locks. Bicycles that were locked were secured by simple cable-style locks; these are not very secure.
  • Record the make, model and serial number of all bicycles.
  • Photograph your bicycle and note any special accessories or markings.
  • Lock the wheels and frame together to a fixed, immovable object.
  • Get a FREE bicycle license from the police department.
