Update: Residential Burglar Apprehended on Orange Grove Roof

The suspect was taken into custody and will be charged on multiple counts of residential burglary, according to Police Chief Joe Payne.

Police will charge Roderick Marshall, 23, of Compton with multiple counts of residential burglary after he broke into an apartment at 609 Prospect Avenue and fled the scene Thursday morning, confirmed Police Chief Joe Payne.

Marshall was found hiding on the roof of an Orange Grove home.

Around 7:15 a.m., received a call from workers at 609 Prospect Avenue, who said they had chased a male from a tented/fumigated apartment building at that address.

The witnesses allegedly followed the suspect into the apartments between Charter Oak and Magnolia west of Orange Grove, according to Payne.

With the help of a police helicopter and canine units, officers and detectives at the scene established a perimeter and located the suspect hiding on a roof at 639 Orange Grove around 9:45 a.m. Thursday.

Marshall was taken into custody without incident and all stolen property was recovered. He is being charged with multiple counts of residential burglary and detectives are looking into possible robbery charges as well, Payne wrote to Patch in an email.

Payne said a female suspect allegedly involved in the burglary was also taken into custody Thursday.

It proves what I have stated many times in the past. So pas is one of the best communities to reside in when it comes to police response. Although SP is not totally immune from crime, generally SPPD response is so quick that criminals do not stand a chance. And unlike their peers in the LAPD, the local cops are cordial and courteous not because they are regimented to do but they are just more down to earth than larger departments that adjoin them. Like mayor Cacciotti stated recently, Mayberry lives here! Luckily no Barney Fifes here.

Personally I do not want to get updates on all stories under a given category. It is too bad that weRead More can no longer follow specific stories as we used to.... As it is I get too many e-mails.... I hope patch will consider to allow following of specific stories instead of all stories under a given category.
