Suspects Steal Dog from Pet's Delight

Have you seen these men?

Two male suspects were allegedly seen stealing a Puggle from around 2:30 p.m. July 23, police reported in a crime bulletin Wednesday.

Suspect No.1 can be seen in a surveillance video grabbing the female puppy from a pen area in the store as suspect No. 2 serves as a lookout.

The suspects then allegedly exited the store without paying for the dog, according to police. A witness later told police that the suspects enteed a green 2002 Mercury Villager and drove away.

The dog is micro-chipped and has been entered as stolen, according to police.

Suspect No. 1 is described as an 5' 9" Hispanic male 35- to 40-years old with black hair, wearing black shorts and a white Orlando Magic basketball jersey with the words “Hardaway” on the back.

See the attached crime bulletin for more details.

It'll turn up at a shelter somewhere 6 months from now.

Why are they selling dogs, anyway?

Pet shops should not sell puppies, unless they're from shelters. They become impulse buys and then found to be unsuitable and given to the shelters or dumped.

I agree that pet shops should not sell puppies. I do support responsible breeding though for those who do want a pure bred puppy. How ever, in Pet Delights defense, they also host a local rescue and have puppies and adults up for adoption that are rescues. I have one. She's a pure bred Bassett Hound who was thrown away by someone. She was not a puppy (4 years old) but she is a great dog and if it wasn't for Pet Delight, she may not have been rescued (rescues are full) and I would not have been the proud mommy of special girl.

I went into that store once to buy a collar and left without buying anything because I saw that they sell dogs. Pet shops should not sell dogs because they keep the puppy mills and breeders in business. Many of these dogs end up in the shelters and are euthanized because there are not enough homes for them. It does not make sense to buy a dog from a pet store when a dog can be rescued from a shelter at a fraction of the cost.
