City Council Meetings to be Streamed Online

City Council meetings will be streamed on the Web starting Wednesday.

The following is a press release from the City of South Pasadena. All inquiries should be directed to Sally Kilby at 626-403-7232.

Starting Jan. 18, City Council meetings will be available via the Internet, announced Mayor Michael A. Cacciotti.

“This adds another avenue for the public to access City government deliberations,” Mayor Cacciotti said, “adding to the transparency and openness of South Pasadena’s participative government.”

The City is offering web-streaming services as part of a major effort being undertaken by the City Council this year to upgrade and improve audiovisual and broadcasting operations.

City Clerk Sally Kilby said, “City Council meetings will be available live through the City website HERE through a link from the home page, starting at approximately 7:30 p.m. on the first and third Wednesdays of the month."

“Live meetings can be accessed through any computer with Internet access, and eventually they will be available through any mobile device.”

Kilby said that previous meetings can be accessed through any computer or mobile device.

“The advantage for viewers is that for past meetings,” she said, “specific discussion items can be watched simply by clicking on the specific agenda item on the Council agenda.”

Six months of archived meetings will be available on the City website.

City Council meetings are currently available live on two cable channels—Time Warner Channel 19 and AT&T Channel 99. DVD recordings of the meetings are available at the Library for check-out and at the City Clerk’s Office for purchase.

Web streaming will provide another point of access for those without cable service, for media representatives and others who do not live in the City, for interested parties who are out of the City or country at the time of meetings, and for those who simply cannot access cable television at the time of the meetings.

Web streaming services are being provided by the City’s audiovisual contract vendor, Studio Spectrum, Inc., of Burbank, a company providing services to such cities as Alhambra, Arcadia, and Burbank.
