City Scraps Overnight Parking Ban for Holidays
Go ahead, park on the street without a permit -- just be sure to move it every few days.
Relatives invading for Christmas and New Year's? Well, the one thing you won't have to worry about is where to park their cars while they bunk with you.
The City of South Pasadena has gotten into the holiday spirit this season, and from Dec. 22 to Jan. 3, 2013, vehicle owners will not be cited for leaving their cars on city streets, an action that ordinarilly requires a city permit if a person parks over night. Municpal code limits the parking of motor vehicles on streets to one-half hour between the hours of 2-6 a.m.
However, the city warns, the exemption does not cover a vehicle that has parked in one spot on any public roadway for more than 72 hours. Those vehicles will be cited, according to an announcement on the city's Facebook page.
