Fate of Rialto Sign to be Determined Monday

If you drive by the Rialto today, you'll notice the contractor has started to build a support structure to shore up the sagging bottom of the marquee.

The City's building official will meet with structural engineer Michael Krakower, who has previously worked on the historic Raymond Theatre in Pasadena, to discuss the fate of the Rialto's blade sign Monday afternoon. 

, but lessee Landmark Theatres has since hired Krakower to possibly help preserve it.

Per South Pasadena Interim City Manager Sergio Gonzalez:

Our City Building Official is scheduled to meet with Mr. Krakower (structure engineer hired by Landmark) this afternoon. After their meeting, the building official will make a determination on the sign. I don’t know the exact timing of that decision, but as soon as it is made, I will make sure we communicate to all interested parties
