Ellen Pansky, who has lived in town since 1987, voted for Rusnak. "There are not enough women in office. And she has community activity in her background."

President of Rusnak Auto Group in Pasadena, in her Assembly race with a total of $480,256.33 in contributions.

Pansky also voted in favor of , which would increase the tax on every cigarette box sold in California by $1. The money raised—approximately $735 million per year, according to the California Legislative Analyst's Office (LAO)—would fund a variety of cancer research and smoking cessation measures.

"Having had a relative who died of cancer, I voted in favor. Especially with the lack of government support right now, it's important," she said.

Coleman is against the tax: "We have too many taxes already," he said.

As for proposition 28, which would alter term limits for some of California's elected officials, Simpson voted against the proposed restriction, saying, "good people should be allowed to serve."

Prop. 28 would limit lawmakers to 12 years in the Legislature but allow all of those years to be served in one house—be it the Assembly or the Senate.
