Forever Stamp Prices Will Increase 1 Cent This Month

The debut of the U.S. Postal Service's 46-cent Forever stamps brings rate changes on Jan. 27.

Stamp prices increase one cent effective Jan. 27 to make way for the new 46-cent Forever stamp, according to an announcement from the U.S. Postal Service.

The price to mail a one-ounce letter will increase from 45 cents to 46 cents, but the cost for letters weighing more than one ounce will stay the same, at 20 cents for each additional ounce.

The announcement states letters under one ounce mailed anywhere internationally will cost $1.10 and postcard stamps will also see a one-cent increase, from 32 cents to 33 cents.

Those looking to save a few cents could stock up on the postal service's Forever stamps (costing 45 cents until the one-cent increase on Jan. 27), which are usable even after stamp prices change.

um, this is not news...that's pretty much the point of the 'forever' stamp - it's valid forever, no matter how much you paid...so, theory of relativity aside, cute title and all but forever is no shorter for the penny increase.

Thanks April. It was a misread on my part. Appreciate the comment.

You can definitely follow specific news! If you only wanted to follow police and fire, for example,Read More click on the News tab on the home page. Then, down the left side of the page are multiple news categories. Click the one you want and then it'll ask you if you want to receive email updates about this topic. Once you do, it'll show you as "subscribed.'' If you follow "Top News'' you receive updates on all stories.

Personally I do not want to get updates on all stories under a given category. It is too bad that weRead More can no longer follow specific stories as we used to.... As it is I get too many e-mails.... I hope patch will consider to allow following of specific stories instead of all stories under a given category.
