Want to Sponsor a Banner for the City's 125th Anniversary?

The city will mark its quasquicentennial in March, and although celebration plans are underway, the Chamber of Commerce is asking the public to chime in with ideas for how to commemorate the civic milestone.

The city has quite the big birthday this year. Would you like your name on one of the historic birthday banners?

On March 2, South Pasadena will celebrate its quasquicentennial, so the Chamber of Commerce plans to adorn 62 light poles with banners featuring historic photographs from the archives. Families or individuals, organizations or businesses who live in, or serve South Pasadena may sponsor a banner for the 125th anniversary. The sponsorship for each banner is $500.

The sponsor's name and a commemorative logo will be featured on both sides of the banner from February 1 to Oct. 31, 2013. Once the banner is removed, you may collect and keep it, according to Scott Feldmann, president of the South Pasadena Chamber of Commerce.

Do you have any great ideas for how the city should celebrate? The Chamber would love to hear your ideas!

To sponsor a banner, fill in the application here and mail it to the Chamber with a check made payable to the South Pasadena Chamber of Commerce before January 22nd, 2013. You may also stop in at the
Chamber at 1121 Mission Street to pay with cash or a credit card.

Feldmann said this is only one of the plans for celebrating the city's 125th. If you have an idea for how we can "mark the date" and celebrate, add it in the comments section below, and give the Chamber a call (626) 441-2339.

You can definitely follow specific news! If you only wanted to follow police and fire, for example,Read More click on the News tab on the home page. Then, down the left side of the page are multiple news categories. Click the one you want and then it'll ask you if you want to receive email updates about this topic. Once you do, it'll show you as "subscribed.'' If you follow "Top News'' you receive updates on all stories.

Personally I do not want to get updates on all stories under a given category. It is too bad that weRead More can no longer follow specific stories as we used to.... As it is I get too many e-mails.... I hope patch will consider to allow following of specific stories instead of all stories under a given category.
