Last Chance: The Deadline for Animal Art Contest Entries is Saturday

Be Kind to Animals Week is May 5-11. To commemorate this, the South Pasadena Public Library is sponsoring an art contest.

Children up to age 14 have one more day to draw, paint or write about the importance of being kind to animals for the city's annual art contest.

The South Pasadena Library, the South Pasadena Animal Commission, and the Natural Resources and Environmental Commission are sponsoring the annual Be Kind to Animals Week Art Contest. This year members have expanded the theme to include not only kindness to pets and wildlife, but also to wildlife and their habitat.

This annual event, established by the American Humane Association in 1915, celebrates the role animals (pets and wildlife) play in our lives and promotes ways to treat them humanely. Entries may be an original poem, story, drawing or painting specifically promoting the theme of kindness toward domestic or wild animals/and their habitat. The entry must be 8 ½" x 11" or smaller, have a title on the submission and include an entry form.
