Local Gets Award For Stopping Attempted Rape

Aston was taking a lunch break at a spot that overlooked the Arroyo Seco Trail when he heard a woman call out for help, he told the Pasadena Sun.

South Pasadena resident Peter Aston, who helped stop an attempted rape in 2011,  was one of four men honored for his courageous acts by District Attorney Steve Cooley at a luncheon Wednesday.

"I wasn’t expecting all of this,” Aston told the Pasadena Sun at the award ceremony Wednesday. “I was actually trying to find a reason to get out of it.”

Jason Daniel Barrios was convicted of attempted rape and sentenced to four years in prison thanks to Aston's courageous acts.
