Construction on busy Fair Oaks drags on to the aggravation of residents and downtown merchants. Motorists using the heavily traveled thoroughfare have found their commute time extended due to the traffic delays, while pedestrians have had to dodge broken sidewalks as they walk, with many avoiding  shopping at the stores altogether.

In many cases, store entrances are inaccessible to would-be shoppers, causing merchants lost revenue. The project itself is slated to end sometime in August.
