PHOTOS: Cacciotti Kicks Off Reelection Campaign

The four-year term of the South Pasadena City Council member ends Nov. 5.

South Pasadena City Councilmember Michael Cacciotti kicked off his reelection campaign Sunday with a community get together and fundraising event attended by well over 100 people at the Arroyo Seco Racquet Club.

Cacciotti has served on the city council since 2001, including as mayor. Both he and his council colleague Philip Putnam are up for reelection on Nov. 5, when their four-year terms on the council expires. There are no term limits on the South Pasadena City Council.

As community members and supporters feasted on a lavish, multiethnic spread of Italian, Mexican and Chinese food, Cacciotti stressed his nearly 12-year record of opposing the extension of the 710 freeway, improving the environment, helping secure open spaces by the Arroyo Seco river, and strengthening city programs for youth as well as seniors.

South Pasadena City Council elections are scheduled in conjunction with elections to the board of the South Pasadena Unified School District. Both elections will be conducted by the office of the Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk. Besides Cacciotti and Putnam, there are two other candidates so far for the council elections—Diana Mahmud and Alan Reynolds.

Voter registration forms are available at the South Pasadena Post Office, the South Pasadena Public Library, and at three places in South Pasadena City Hall—the City Finance Department; the office of the City Clerk, and the window of the South Pasadena Police Department. In most places, registration forms are available in English, Chinese, and Spanish. Residents may also register to vote electronically through the website of the California Secretary of State. Click here for further details about the Nov. 5 elections.
