Recruitment Begins for Monterey Road Design Committee

The Committee will provide input and feedback on the proposed design of Monterey Road from Pasadena Avenue to Brent Avenue—including sidewalk and bike lane recommendations.

The City of South Pasadena is currently seeking qualified volunteers to serve on an for the Monterey Road Street Improvement Project.   

The Committee will provide input and feedback on the proposed design of Monterey Road from Pasadena Avenue to Brent Avenue. More specifically, there are existing , which must be addressed as part of the street resurfacing project. There is also interest to on the roadway.

The City is seeking a variety of expertise and opinions to represent the views and interests of the community. The ad-hoc committee will work with the City’s Freeway & Transportation Commission and will consist of nine to eleven members.

In particular, members representing or having experience in one or more of the following areas are desired:

  • At least one member who is a registered traffic or civil engineer in the State of California.
  • At least one member who is either disabled or has professional experience and/or expertise in the area of Americans with Disabilities accessible design.
  • at least two members who reside within the project limits on Monterey Road.
  • And three to five members general members who represent interests such as local businesses, architecture or planning, emergency services, contractors/construction, the South Pasadena Unified School District, youth, bicyclists, or commuters. 

All interested individuals must be residents of the City.

The meeting schedule of the committee has yet to be decided, but it is anticipated that the committee will sunset in six months unless otherwise extended.

Applications are due by Feb. 23, 2012. Appointments to the subcommittee will be made by the City Council at a future City Council meeting.
