The South Pas Library Board of Trustees has an Open Seat

The City of South Pasadena is accepting applications for a spot on the library board.

From the City of South Pasadena:

Mayor Richard D. Schneider has announced an open seat on the Library Board of Trustees. The appointed trustee will serve a partial term ending on December 31, 2013, and there is a possibility of renewing for two full three-year terms.

Board members serve in an advisory capacity to the City Council and are responsible for providing input to the City Librarian on library needs and traditions, and community attitudes and values.

The Trustees helped develop the 2011-2015 Library Strategic Plan and are coordinating a Library Volunteer Recognition Luncheon for March 8. Trustees also assist with promoting library improvements within the community and advocate for funding at levels to cover adequate staff, a well- balanced collection and a well-maintained building. In addition, Trustees approve policies that govern the operation of the library.

The Library Board of Trustees meets monthly on the second Thursday of the month at 7:00 p.m. at the Library Conference Room, 1100 Oxley St.
