Two Local Groups Get Image Award

The City presents this award annually to individuals, organizations and/or businesses who promote a positive image of the City beyond its borders.

was instrumental in bringing the first woman to South Pas City Council since 2003: Marina Khubesrian. 

The group's goal can be summed up in three words: Transparency in government. It was formed in March 2010 after residents became concerned at the dismissal of former Police Chief Dan Watson.

Councilmember Marina Khubesrian congratulated WISPPA at Wednesday's council meeting.

"The award recognizes WISPPA's contributions to the City," she told Patch.

"They are a fine example of how a grassroots political organization with vibrant community participation can inform the political discourse and hence direction of a municipal government."

The Committee in Support of Measure UT

The Committee in Support of UT first started meeting in July 2011 to rally citizens in favor of  

Members of the group included Ted Shaw, Chair Carrie Adrian, Treasurer Kim Hughes and Bob Weaver.  

"The UT tax victory was worth every bit of the effort and hard work put in by all of us on 'The Committee in Support of UT,'" said Adrian. "I would do it again in a heartbeat."

Measure UT passed with 54 percent of the votes in South Pasadena's November election.
