Vigil Held for Officer Kevin Sandoval Friday in South Pas

Residents and surrounding departments gathered outside South Pas Police Department Friday.

The city of South Pas held a vigil Friday morning outside in memory of . 

Fellow officers carried the casket as others stood in attention and saluted. Numerous law enforcement agencies were on hand to help pay tribute and accompany the procession. 

In addition to Mayor Mike Ten presenting a flag on behalf of the city, Council member David Sifuentes and Philip Putnam also spoke. A choked up Police Chief Joseph Payne remembered the young officer with a speech before presenting Sandoval's parents with medal in their son's honor. Before the ceremonies were over, an LAPD helicopter flew by in eulogy to the officer.

At the conclusion of the brief service, a procession of police cars and motorcycles escorted the casket to the funeral at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.
