What to do With Your Christmas Tree Now That Santa's Gone

Holiday tree collection for single-family residents in South Pasadena ends Jan. 6.

Another Christmas has come and gone—and it’s time to dispose off or recycle that Christmas tree in your living room.

Collection of Christmas trees—whole or chopped—for single-family residents and those who live in duplexes will continue for two weeks after Christmas, ending Jan. 6, 2014, according to City of South Pasadena Water Conservation Analyst Debby Figoni.

Trees too big to chop and fit into a green waste bin can be placed next to the bin on the curb on your regular trash pick-up day. Residents who live in apartment buildings or condos should place their trees at the curb for collection on Saturday, Jan. 11, 2014, from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Remember to remove all Christmas tree decorations as well as the tree stand. And shake off loose flocking to make the recycling process efficient.
