Patch Blog: Dumpling Drama at Garfield Park

My first food truck chase! An adventure to find the dumpling truck that ended at Garfield Park.

One Saturday, an opportunity on Twitter caught my eye; one I knew I had to take advantage of. Being a lover of all foods, I follow a multitude of them. The Dumpling Station, The Grilled Cheese Truck, and The Mighty Boba Truck are just a few of the ones I follow. Usually these trucks head to tourist spots like Hollywood and Highland or the Santa Monica Pier to make the most money so you can imagine my surprise when the Dumpling Station tweeted their location in South Pasadena.

‘We will be on Moud street in about 10 minutes!’

I had been waiting for the opportunity to convince my mother that these dumplings were as good as I had advertised, so I persuaded her into driving me to meet the truck. Living in the area, we were both confused about the location the Dumpling Station had given out. Moud street? Where is Moud? Is there even a Moud? I think it’s a typo! Disappointed, I refreshed Twitter to see if there were any more updates ... and the truck was already on the move!

’Trouble parking in our old location. We’re moving to ! Meet us there!’

My mom and I happened to be a few blocks away from Garfield Park at that very moment! Hoping to catch the truck I screamed with excitement, “They’re at Garfield Park! Let’s move it! We’re on a mission!” As soon as I saw the neon green truck, I knew we were victorious! We ordered the dumplings while the station tweeter apologized for his typo (He meant Mound but typed Moud). There was a small wait since the dumplings are made fresh, but they were completely worth it.

Garfield Park is a place that houses many of my favorite memories. Whether it was having fun on the playground when I was 7 or chasing down a food truck at the age of 16, Garfield Park will always have a special place in my heart.
