From time to time we're going to feature one of the most expensive homes on the South Pasadena real estate market.

This 1935 Monterey Colonial located at 240 Hillside Road is listed at $1,995,000.

The four-bedroom, four-bathroom home totals 3,095 square feet and offers a formal entry with an upper level living room and two patios overlooking landscaped gardens. The gourmet kitchen features an eat-in bar, newer appliances and marble counter tops. It opens into the family room, with French doors opening to the rear patio.

Affordable is kind of subjective, right? I mean, affordable in SoCal is so not affordable to, say, my sister who lives in the south. What price range were you thinkin' about, Janet?

Why should it be balanced? I enjoy looking at these pricey houses and the properties they sit on. If you don't like the article, skip it. Nobody is holding a gun to your head to force you to read it.

"Affordable" is relative, yes. Many of my friends have homes in the 100-300k range in other parts of the country and would never live in SoCal because home ownership isn't affordable on their terms, but their salaries don't scale either. It's all relative.

I just thought it would be fun to see the absolute lowest price compared with the highest in town. Thought that was obvious.
