Are You Ready For the 16th Annual Tiger Run?

This year's Booster Club fundraising event includes a bicycle tour.

Every year around Thanksgiving, South Pasadena High School organizes a Tiger Run, a popular 5K and 10K fundraiser for the school’s Booster Club.

This year’s 16 Annual Tiger Run is scheduled next week, Saturday, Dec. 7, but it’s going to be a bit different from pervious years: In addition to the 5K and 10K events, there will also be a Tiger Cycle Tour, according to Councilmember Michael Cacciotti, who informed the city council about the more inclusive change at the council’s recent meeting on Nov. 20.

The bicycle tour has been added at the request of Councilmember Bob Joe, Cacciotti said. “So this year, if you can’t run or walk, you can bring your bike and ride it."

The Tiger Run and Cycle Tour will start from the South Pasadena High School, by the gymnasium. The cycle tour is scheduled to start at 7:45 a.m., the 5K at 8 a.m., and the 10K at 8:15 a.m. In addition, the Tiger Cub run will begin at 9 a.m.

“Let’s all get out there and have a lot of fun—streets will be closed down,” Cacciotti said, adding: “I’m going to do both—I’m going to do the bicycle, lock it up and jump on the road for the 5K run.”

“And you’re going to beat me?” interjected Joe.

“I’m gonna race you, Bob,” Cacciotti quipped. “I’m gonna race you in both.”
