SPUSD hosted a new teachers orientation at district headquarters Tuesday to welcome new staff to the district.

New teachers were welcomed by administrators and principals at a breakfast meeting held in the district auditorium Tuesday.

Superintendent Joel Shapiro greeted the employees and made introductions of his fellow administrators. Among the group were three former students who came back to teach in area schools.

Also welcomed was district music director Kelly Coughlin from Davenport, Iowa who replaced retired Jim Macomber. And a new athletic director, Mark Zalin, from Vallejo, Calif., was introduced as the successor to longtime Athletic Director Ralph Punaro.
