Courageous Citizens Awards

A La Puente man who was shot to death as he tried to stop gang members from tagging his neighbor’s fence will be honored posthumously by District Attorney Steve Cooley Wednesday.

Three others will also be recognized at a Courageous Citizens Awards luncheon from noon to 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 2, at the University Club, 175 N. Oakland Ave., Pasadena.

Other recipients include an Arcadia man who was shot and wounded while trying to stop a thief from stealing an elderly woman’s dog, a South Pasadena man who helped stop an attempted rape, and a second La Puente resident who was fired upon as he tried to call 911 to report two tagging gang members.
