Special Guest Speaker: Stephanie Tolan, author and expert in gifted education

Gifted children have a variety of unique gifts, as well as a variety of unique needs and challenges. Join the Institute for Educational Advancement as we explore ways to meet our gifted children’s particular needs and learn more about this extraordinary group of young people. These monthly meetings are intended for parents of gifted children, to provide support and community in the midst of the joys and challenges of raising a gifted child.

Please RSVP to reception@educationaladvancement.org. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us.  Please invite parents that you feel would be interested.

Meeting Topic: Keeping Track of the Who

Much that we notice about children who have been identified as gifted revolves around what. What they can do. What they need. What educational programs are
available for them. What their interests are. What their differences from more average children may be. What other diagnosis may have been provided by medical  experts. As we attempt to handle the complexities and challenges of parenting them, we may find ourselves losing track of the “who.” This session will address the need to
balance the necessary “whats” with the primary who—the beingness of the individual child. Q&A will provide an opportunity to ask questions regarding any other parenting issues.
