Marengo Elementary School to Hold a Pumpkin Patch

The fundraiser will benefit the school's fifth-graders.

Marengo Elementary School wants to help locals get ready for Halloween by hosting a Pumpkin Patch this week.

This year will mark the first such Pumpkin Patch at the school in recent memory, according to Linda Park, a fifth-grade parent and one of the organizers.

"There's a lot of excitement," Park said. "We hope to raise $6,000 to $7,000."

Pumpkins will be sold for as low as $6, she said. The money raised will benefit the fifth-graders' promotion fund and other activities throughout the school year, according to Park.

In addition, baked goods, coffee and other beverages will be on sale.

The Marengo Elementary Pumpkin Patch is scheduled to take place from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 18, and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 19, at the school which is located at 1400 Marengo Ave.
