School Board to Discuss District Lot Tuesday

Either the district will move forward with one of the three RFPs currently on the table or it will seek additional proposals. Residents are encouraged to voice opinions Tuesday during public comment.

The parking lot is underutilized, . Currently, staff and visitors park in the lot, and it's rented out about 50 days a year to film crews shooting in the area, he said.

The goal of the development project is to generate revenue for the district while adding value to the community, Shapiro said. RFPs on the table include commercial, residential and recreational use buildings.

Although the actual district building was available for development, none of the RFPs included it in its plans.

Pasadena Sun reported Friday that Mayor Mike Ten is in favor of relocating the from Oxley Street to the current district headquarters. With his vision, the parking lot would be transformed to a mix of retail space and senior housing while the existing senior center would serve as an extension to the public library.
