South Pas Council PTA Seeks Award Nominations

Can you think of someone who's provided outstanding service to children and would be deserving of such an honor?

Each year the South Pasadena Council PTA recognizes members of the community and school district for outstanding service to children and teens during the annual Honorary School Service Awards Luncheon.

The HSSA Committee is seeking nominations of candidates from the community. Nominees’ names, along with a brief description of why they are being nominated may be sent to Linda D’Oro, Honorary School Service Awards Chair at ldoro7@hotmail.com.

The deadline for nominations is February 22.

This year’s luncheon will be held on April 23, 11:45-1:00 p.m. in the South Pasadena Unified School District Board Room, and will feature brief performances by SPUSD students.

South Pasadena Council PTA is comprised of representatives from the PTAs of our five public schools.

I would like to nominate Dave Jontz, I have seen him working Bingo for over 20 years devoting his weekends on a constant basis. Bingo not only benefits the school and its various activities but enables students to enjoy and partake in these activities whether it be sports, band or any of a host of activities. Through Mr Jontz's volunteerism over the years (I have seen him at many other events donating his time) many youngsters have benefited. He is deserving of recognition

I would like to add another name to the nominations, that would be Bill Glazier. For many years Bill has publicized (usually in a positive light) happening at all schools in the community. Local residents would not be aware of sports results and numerous school activities were it not for his voice through the South Pasadena Review. But he goes well beyond reporting, he has contributed by volunteering his time at community events that benefit youngsters and schools through his involvement with SPEF, 4th of July just to name few. He does this without much recognition. He would be a prime candidate for PTSA honors.
