Lauren Krieger, spokeswoman for the South Pasadena Educational Foundation, penned the following open letter of thanks to the community for the fall fund drive.
The South Pasadena Educational Foundation worked hard this year with over 100 volunteers battling the Presidential Debate, the National League Championship game, Monday Night Football, and Game 1 of the World Series. [During a four-day push,] they made over 4,000 calls and raised over $60,000.
Some of our smiling and dialing callers included SPUSD Superintendent Joel Shapiro and 2 of his assistant superintendents (Scott Price and Steve Seaford), all of the PTA presidents, all of the school principals, several teachers, some city council members, current and former SPEF board members, and of course parents and members of the community at large.
Some of our best earners so far this drive have been SPHS Principal Janet Anderson, Superintendent Shapiro, our current and previous SPEF Board presidents Lawrence Sin, Ruby Kalra and Julie Giulioni, and Board members current and former, Cara Yokomizo, Jean Zenas and Joan Aguado.
How does our fundraising directly affect your child’s educational ezperience?
Last year SPEF donated a record $583,900 to the South Pasadena public schools, both in general funds to help sustain vital programs, services and staffing, and in targeted grants that enhance the curriculum at every grade level with both artistic programs and new technology to enhance your children’s learning experience. Our organization runs Summer School, After School Enrichment classes and the 5th Grade Musical. Every dollar goes to the enrichment of your child’s educational experience.
Please remember make your donation on our secure website at www.spef.com or send your check in by mail to: SPEF P.O. Box 3342, South Pasadena, CA 91031-6342
