SPHS Homecoming Dress Drive

The fun of Homecoming without the financial stress.

Last year, senior Lorena Roldan was inspired to give back to her school after attending Adelante Mujer Latina at Pasadena City College.

So she teamed up with SPHS Intervention Counselor Marcile Vadell-Strickland and together they created the high school's first dress drive.

"She and I worked on it for prom and now a current senior—Kellyna Fox—has continued with the new tradition," said Vadell-Strickland.

"This was very successful last spring when we launched the campaign. ...I love it because it is fueled by students who encourage their peers, parents and community members to donate."

Here's How it Works:

What: Dresses in good condition can be donated so students have something nice to wear to Homecoming without having to worry about the expense. (Note: These are donations so you won't get your dress back.)

Where: The dresses can be dropped off at Ms. Vadell-Strickland’s office in the high school counseling center.

When: Donate this week. And then come shop for your free dress on Monday and Tuesday of next week during lunch or at 2 p.m.

Questions? Email Ms. Vadell-Strickland at mvadell@fc.spusd.net or contact student senior Kellyna Fox.
