Football: Tigers Trounce Glendale 39-7

SPHS varsity football team upended the visiting Nitros in their home opener.

Playing against a visiting Glendale football team that had beaten Rio Hondo League rival La Cañada the previous week, the Tigers proved that they should be a force to be reckoned with, as they beat their opponent soundly by a score of 39-7.

Although the Glendale team was able to move the ball well on the ground, they were held mostly in check by the South Pasadena High School defense and turnovers.

The offense gouged out yardage and scored at will thanks to a stellar ground game and Glendale turnovers. The Tiger receivers also made some great catches to keep coach Martin Konrad's offense moving into scoring position.
