Update: Superintendent Addresses Teacher Resignations

The names of the teachers will not be released until the board meeting March 27, the Pasadena Star-News reported.

Update: Superintendent Joel Shapiro says teachers chose to resign for a variety of reasons. However, some resignations that occur at this time of year are to avoid non-reelect.

Probationary teachers who are not rehired are called non-reelects.

"If a teacher's evaluation indicates that he will not be rehired, he may choose to resign to avoid having the non-reelect on the employment record," said Shapiro.
