Viewfinder: Scenes of South Pasadena

A capsule of the week's events in the city.

This week's Viewfinder features include two young Arroyo Vista students doing their homework in a tree near the library, with other other kids finishing their assignments on the library lawn.  A blown transformer shut down a local market, cutting off their electricity and causing a toxic spill, forcing Lyndon Street to be shut down.

The  TV series Law and Order: Los Angeles was being shot locally, using City Hall and local businesses. Also, high school pupils scurried to classes in the rain, while baseball players tried to dry off their field for a game.

Drivers were coping with the feared $4 plateau and now heading for $5 at local gas stations. A resident was driving his prized jalopy around town, and city workers were filling in potholes.
