Bestselling Novelist Emma Donaghue for Library Author Night on April 14

Ticketed Event--Free Tickets Available

Irish-born novelist, Emma Donoghue, who currently resides in Canada, will make an Author Night appearance in the South Pasadena Public Library Community Room on Monday, April 14 at 7 p.m. Emma Donoghue will be discussing and signing her latest of eight novels, FROG MUSIC, which is set in San Francisco in the summer of 1876 when the city is in the fierce grip of a record-breaking heat wave and smallpox epidemic. Through the window of a railroad saloon, a young woman named Jenny Bonnet is shot and killed. A survivor of the attack, her friend Blanche Beunon, is a French burlesque dancer. Over the next three days, Blanche risks everything to bring Jenny's murderer to justice.

The Author Night is presented by South Pasadena Public Library, the Friends of the South Pasadena Public Library, & Vroman’s Bookstore.  It’s a ticketed event and a limited number of  free tickets – 1 or 2 per requestor who spends at least $1--will be available at the Friends of the South Pasadena Public Library Bookstore on April 1st, the release day for the book. The Friends Bookstore has an appealing, assortment of used fiction and nonfiction books for all ages, all attractively priced. The Friends bookstore is located upstairs in the South Pasadena Public Library at 1100 Oxley Street and open 7 days a week -- Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., Thursday and Friday, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday from 12:30 p.m. to  4:30 p.m., and Sunday from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. The Friends Bookstore’s phone number is  (626) 441-5294. Vroman’s will be making one ticket available to each one of their customers who purchases a copy of FROG MUSIC at Vroman’s main store Will Call counter or Vroman's Hastings Ranch, beginning on April 1. Vroman’s customers can pre-order FROG MUSIC from them at  (626) 449-5320.

The Community Room is located at 1115 El Centro Street. Refreshments will be served. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. for those with tickets. If any tickets as still left when the Community Room doors open at 6:30 p.m., a ticket will be able to be obtained with the purchase of a copy of FROG MUSIC from the Vroman’s table there.
